    The Society of Chemical Manufacturers & Affiliates® (SOCMA) empowers our members with the latest industry knowledge, an unparalleled peer network, highly customized resources and dedicated technical and professional staff. 

    MISSION

    The Society of Chemical Manufacturers & Affiliates® (SOCMA) supports and fosters the growth of the specialty chemical industry by delivering legislative and regulatory advocacy, promoting the highest levels of safety, and strengthening business intelligence and manufacturing operations.

    VISION

    To unite the specialty chemical industry by providing a forum for advocacy, operational excellence and commercial growth, while rooted in the principle of safe operations.

    OUR HISTORY

    1921
    SOCMA founded as the Synthetic Organic Chemical Manufacturers Association in New York; Dr. Charles Herty was first SOCMA President; Herbert Hoover gave the keynote address at SOCMA’s organizational meeting.
    1970s
    SOCMA moves headquarters to Washington, D.C.
    1977
    Association Management Services (AMS) established.
    1984
    SOCMA launches InformEx Trade Show.
    2005
    InformEx sold.
    2005
    ChemStewards launched.
    2009
    SOCMA name changed to Society of Chemical Manufacturers & Affiliates.
    2019
    SOCMA launches refreshed brand, with new tagline “Solutions for Specialties”
    2020
    SOCMA Re-enters Trade Show Space with Purchase of the Specialty & Custom Chemicals Show
    2021
    SOCMA Celebrates 100th Anniversary on October 21, 2021.
