2022 is unfolding quickly for the specialty and fine chemical value chain, and SOCMA is proud to deliver its latest edition of Specialty Insights, capturing the activity, trends and intelligence the
year has brought with it to date. This dynamic Spring 2022 edition showcases the industry’s first in- person event of the year, SOCMA’s Specialty & Custom Chemicals Show, which reinforces the distinct value this sector places on face-to-face interaction.
Our industry thrives on relationships, whether creating new connections, or building upon existing ones. There is a spark of “chemistry” that ignites when potential partners meet for the first time, a company presents unique capabilities your next project requires, or when hearing a conference panelist share their experience navigating a relatable issue your company is facing.
Attendees experienced each of these scenarios at the SOCMA Show, February 28-March 2. More than 950 attendees were empowered to maximize business development opportunities, learn what’s new in the market and discuss issues that may not have one singular solution.
Articles in this edition of Specialty Insights mirror the topics shared during educational programming and general sessions at the Specialty & Custom Chemicals Show, which shined a spotlight on top-of-mind issues both inside and outside your fence lines.
In Lessons Learned: Supply Chain Resiliency, thought leaders identify how they’ve diversified portfolios, maximized efficiencies and leveraged internal capabilities to find solutions for continued commercial success in the face of fragile and uncertain supply chains.
Changing dynamics and geopolitical concerns in China are explored by thought leaders with facilities on the ground in Managing the Global Supply Chain: Avoiding Disruption. They also share details on the trade complexities impacting the global chemical value chain.
Industry experts also delve into other evolving topics, such as:
• Redefining sustainability and corporate responsibility initiatives in Cultivating a Sustainability Journey – a case study with one SOCMA member.
• Toll Manufacturing Trends, where buyer and toller company representatives discuss shifting emphasis from “Just in Time” to “Just in Case” inventories.
Opportunities to absorb first-hand information and engage with industry colleagues doesn’t stop with the show or reading the magazine. Join us at SOCMA regional meetings throughout the year, and save the date for November 14-16 in New Orleans at the Royal Sonesta for our Fall Summit, focusing on trends in EHS, sustainability and operations.
We hope to see you over the next few months at one of our in-person or virtual events!
Happy Reading!
