In 2019, SOCMA launched its Women in Specialties Peer Group to connect women in the specialty and fine chemical industry. Meeting over in-person networking coffees and via teleconference, the peer group formed a pilot mentor program to connect one-on-one and build meaningful relations with other professionals. SOCMA is happy to welcome its first mentor program cohort in March 2020.
How to Get Involved
The SOCMA mentor program is open to participants in SOCMA’s Women in Specialties Peer Group. To sign up for the peer group, please contact Samantha Floyd at sfloyd@socma.org.
How it Works
If you are interested in participating in the mentor program as either a mentor or a mentee, contact our program administrator, Samantha Floyd to get started and complete the sign-up form. You must be a part of the SOCMA Women in Specialties Peer Group to take part in the program. Sign-ups are accepted on a rolling basis and assigned to cohorts.
Once we receive your sign-up form, we will pair you with either a Mentor or Mentee and send you an introduction email. We understand the importance of building relationships and ask participants to commit 12 months to the program and meet at least one time face-to-face either virtually or at a SOCMA hosted event.
Tips for Success
We have developed resources to help guide you through the mentor program. It is important to share your expectations, goals and communication method.
As a reminder, communication between the Mentor/Mentee should be confidential, and focus on best practice sharing and professional development.
Should you have any questions throughout the program, SOCMA is always here to help!
