LEADERS IN SPECIALTY CHEMICALS TO GATHER IN CHARLESTON FOR 2024 SOCMA SUMMIT

Forecasting and Strategic Planning for 2025 Take Center Stage

Arlington, VA — The Society of Chemical Manufacturers & Affiliates (SOCMA) will host its 2024 Summit & Annual Business Meeting from October 29 to 30 at the Emeline Hotel in Charleston, SC. The event will bring together leadership teams from the specialty and fine chemical sector, focusing on “Predictions & Planning” to shape strategies for the coming year.

“With guidance from our Summit Advisory Committee, we’ve reimagined the SOCMA Summit to provide specialty chemical executives with crucial insights into changing dynamics and major trends influencing the sector,” said Jennifer Abril, SOCMA President and CEO. “Our intentional focus on predictions and planning aims to equip attendees with the foresight needed to navigate business and policy shifts, especially in light of the upcoming U.S. elections, as they map out strategies for 2025.”

Summit attendees will engage in keynotes, sessions, and an executive roundtable, covering topics such as:

  • Economic and Political Foresight: Sessions like “Megatrends and their Anticipated Effects on Business” and “Planning for a Post-Election Landscape” prepare attendees for anticipated economic and political shifts.
  • Government Collaboration: “192.5Million Reasons to Contract with the Federal Government” showcases opportunities for chemical-related public-private partnerships and a roadmap for securing government contracts.
  • Regulatory and Legal Landscape: “Setting the Record Straight: The Court’s Impact on Regulatory Decision Making” and “Pro-Growth Tax Policies Expiring in 2025” bring leaders up to speed on the evolving regulatory and tax environments.
  • Technological and Market Evolution: Sessions on “New Market Trends: Bio-Manufacturing” and “Global Shifts in Sourcing” explore advancements in new technologies and drivers of change in global supply chains.
  • Talent Pipeline: “Filling the Manufacturing Gap: Recruiting New Talent into Chemical Manufacturing” showcases the success stories of two companies that have forged educational partnerships and developed recruitment campaigns to address the industry’s worker shortage.

The Summit features two keynote speakers:

  1. Michael Rogers, author and recent Futurist-In-Residence at the New York Times, will present “Megatrends and their Anticipated Effects on the Future of Business.” Rogers will explore how the business landscape will change over the next decade, addressing challenges like the emerging workforce and innovation strategies.
  2. David Jolly, former Congressman, and political commentator will offer his predictions on the U.S. elections taking place exactly one week after the Summit. Known for his pragmatic approach and commitment to reducing partisan discord, Jolly will offer insights on potential post-election scenarios and how each candidate’s positions will cascade into actions. Jolly’s insider perspective will help industry leaders navigate the complex interplay between policy and business in a fast-changing political environment.

SOCMA will also honor the outstanding achievements of member companies at its annual Awards & Recognition Dinner on October 29. This includes the presentation of individual awards to industry leaders and the recognition of recipients in SOCMA’s 2024 Safety Recognition Program, which highlights exemplary safety practices and fosters collaboration across the industry. Registration is now open at SOCMA Summit 2024. Media passes are available.
