MONUMENT CHEMICAL JOINS FOUNDING MEMBERS OF SEMICONDUCTOR CLIMATE CONSORTIUM
INDIANAPOLIS, IN – SEMI, the industry association serving the global electronics design and manufacturing
supply chains, announced the founding members of the new Semiconductor Climate Consortium (SCC). This group is designed to accelerate industry supply chain efforts to reduce the ecosystem’s greenhouse gas emissions by working together on common goals. As one of 65 founding members, Monument Chemical is excited to work together with its supply chain partners to advance sustainability manufacturing practices and better serve its electronic business customers in this capacity.
Formed by companies across the semiconductor value chain, the SCC will look to members such as Monument to drive innovative sustainability initiatives such as advancing the higher-quality production of localized materials and making greener chemicals more commercially available to businesses across the industry. It is the first global collaborative of semiconductor ecosystem companies focused on these efforts — but they’re not new to Monument.
“We are committed to reducing our burden on the environment as a leader of challenging chemistries in our field, and it’s something that’s instilled in our culture,” Sibel Selcuk, VP of R&D & Strategy at Monument, explained. “And that means continually identifying solutions to address the biggest issues in sustainability — and doing it quickly — in Electronics and across all the markets that we serve. We’re looking forward to engaging with other member companies in three main areas; advancing more localized materials production, establishing new green chemical supply chains, and promoting circularity.”
“Within the circular economy side of the supply chain, we have the capabilities to support significant changes with current technologies,” Jeff Weeks, Business Development & Technology at Monument, shared. “With relatively simple collaborations, circular supply of solvent materials is within reach, and we want to bring that to the forefront.”
The SCC will hold informational sessions for representatives from member companies and SEMI on November 8-10 during COP27 in Sharm El Sheik, Egypt. These sessions are open to the public to attend, and requests to do so or receive more information on the SCC can be sent to SCC@semi.org. The next phase in the SCC’s development will be the election of its governing council, designed to establish the Consortium’s priorities that will be carried out by member-led work groups.
“At Monument, we’ve always done the right thing for our customers and for our future generations in everything we do, so being a founding member of the SCC is an opportunity to do even more,” Sibel added. “We’re hyper focused on green chemistries and sustainable manufacturing practices, and we believe our strengths in the circular economy aspect of the supply chain will have a significant impact on the goals of our fellow member companies, our customers, and the industry as a whole.”
