SOCMA Returns to New Orleans to Launch SOCMA Week
Call for conference speakers and presentations open until Friday, June 14
Arlington, VA – The Society of Chemical Manufacturers & Affiliates is headed to New Orleans for its inaugural SOCMA Week. The event will serve to celebrate the success of our industry, but more importantly, be the catalyst for professionals in the specialties value chain to trade operational best practices and discuss pain points with colleagues facing the same issues.
Set for December 4 – 6 at the Royal Sonesta New Orleans, the event will offer an exhibit space for service providers and more than 15 educational sessions. Conference sessions will be developed into four distinct tracks to focus on commercial services and leadership, regulatory and legislative policy, manufacturing and operations, as well as customer end-use market trends.
In addition to the traditional networking reception and dinner, SOCMA Week will also include three unique opportunities for Emerging Leaders, Women in Specialties, First Time Attendees and New Members to engage.
“SOCMA understands how complex the specialty chemical industry business model is and recognizes the power of face-to-face networking in today’s changing landscape,” said Jennifer Abril, SOCMA President & CEO. “Our approach for SOCMA Week is to equip attendees with the most relevant connections and intelligence to grow their business. I am most excited about how SOCMA Week will offer something for everyone – from company CEOs to chemical operators and EHS&S teams, customers and service providers.”
SOCMA Board of Governors Chairman Gene Williams, President of Optima Chemical Group, fondly remembers the 97 years New York served as home for the association’s premiere event. “SOCMA Week allows us to continue the tradition of our Annual Dinner, but also propels us forward to create a new hub for our industry to discuss critical issues, consider emerging trends, and network in a familiar place like New Orleans,” Williams said.
SOCMA is now accepting submissions for conference speakers and presentations. Those interested in presenting at the 2019 SOCMA Week should visit: www.socma.com/socmaweek.
Possible conference presentation topics include:
- Global market and economic trends
- Business operations and management
- Best practices around process improvement
- Industry research.
Experts in environmental, health and safety, manufacturing and operations, policy, and those supporting the specialty chemical industry community are encouraged to submit presentations for consideration.
Registration for SOCMA Week will open in June.
